I bought what I was told is a pure bred Boston Terrier, but I am now having doubts?
that it is full blooded Boston Terrier. It has a long tail, and his ears tend to lay down most of the time rather than stand up, is almost completely black, and the body shape doesn't completely match the descriptions I have read about this breed. Does anyone know what I should look for to determine if the dog is full blooded or mixed?
It may be purebred just not the best example of the breed. Some Bostons have to have their tail docked, and some have to have their ears cropped, so it is possible that your pup just fits into both of those categories. He probably isn't purebred though, since his all of those characteristics do not fit into the Boston description. Unless you received papers on your pup their is no way to tell for sure (and even if it has papers it doesn't always mean that they they are purebred).
