What would be the better pet to get?

I absolutly love animals, we have two dogs a cat and 2 frogs, a hamster and fish.

Anyway, I want a cockatiel and a sugar glider. I just cant decide which one to get first (when i have money)......

I already have a bird cage......

So what do you think i should get and why?

One note that you REALLY want to consider is that the glider's natural predator in the wild is birds. Was interested in getting more birds after my last cockatiel passed after 26 years. A girlfriend of mine (a glider breeder) told me that some gliders get nervous around certain birds. Just hearing them can cause them stress. Also, are you sure that the cat won't want to attack or play with the glider when it's out? My cat was found plenty of times skulking around the bird cage when I had my cockatiels. Gliders like to roam, glide, and investigate things. You will have to spend a lot of time bonding with your glider every day, and therefore having it out of the cage. My 2 gliders have been with me 3 years and only one has successfully bonded to me. The other is getting there but requires more contact than the one that is bonded. Gliders take time and patience; they are social creatures, living in colonies out in the wild. Only getting ONE glider is not usually recommended. They are very needy and will need more contact with you if you choose to get just one. With all the other pets around, I fear that the glider will not get the attention that it needs (at least an hour a day is recommended). They are also nocturnal, so won't be awake during the day and changing that is impossible as well as detrimental to their health. They bark and make noise during the night, so if you and your pets are about the zzzzzzs, then I would recommend something else. And giving gliders pellets, baby food, or cat food in not recommended for a proper diet. Processed stuff is horrible for your glider. To ensure that the glider gets proper calcium and protein, you will need to take time and get insects, prepare fruit and meat, eggs and veggies. And for at least the first year you'll need to make sure that they get proper calcium to prevent bone complications. They are far needier pets than any of the others you have listed. I would advise some serious research and planning before investing in a glider. They are awesome pets, but I've had cats, a dog, birds, a ferret, a rabbit, fish, and snakes AND volunteered regularly at the zoo; and they by far require the most attention. Hope any of this helps! OH!!! One more note: If you really are interested in gliders, there are lots of gliders that have had their owners give up on them and are in dire need of homes. Checking out rescue centers and listings on the net is a good idea. Some are already tamed and just need a loving home.
