What is the Dif between a Degu and a Rat or Gerbil?

What is a degu? And how is it different from say, a gerbil or a rat?

Degus are more exotic than rats and gerbils. Degus are not yet very domesticated and are much more wild. Many degus are biters and do not like to be held. Degus also have some physical differences. Degus' tails are furry, unlike a rat's. Degus are also a bit larger than both rats and gerbils.

Rats are the most tame of rodents. They are also the smartest. Rats have been domesticated for thousands of years and therefor make great pets. Rats almost never bite and they have the personality of a dog.

Gerbils are smaller than rats and degus. Although gerbils are domesticated, some will still turn out to be biters and won't like being held. Their demeanor is basically right in between that of a rat and a degu. They are not as tame as rats, but not as wild as degus.
