My dog sheds a lot, help?!?
I have a 14 month old blue heeler cross and she sheds like no other! I will just be done cleaning the house and it seems to be covered in hair shortly after. I have to sweep/vaccuum every day if I want to keep all the hair gone and it drives me nuts because I am 33 weeks pregnant and it is getting really hard to do all of that cleaning. I heard of a really good hair brush called the Furminator, has anyone used this? And what are some other things I can do to get rid of this problem? Thanks for the help!
I've tried a number of different combs & brushes on my Cattle Dog. As you are no doubt aware, the Cattle Dog needs to be at least a LITTLE bit on board with the brushing thing or it's gonna be a tough job.
What has worked best for us (The dog & me) is a plain old medium tooth plastic human hair comb. He doesn't mind being combed with it (he actually seems to enjoy the feel) and it gets out mounds of both the hair and the furry undercoat and cleaning the comb is easy.
Around the house I use a Swiffer on wooden floors. We have an Orek vacuum because that's what the wife bought and it works fine. Goes through a lot of bags when ya own 2 dogs, tho. Owners I know who have the Dyson really like those.
I don't really mind tho. In my house we consider dog hair to be a condiment!
EDIT: This should be a seasonal thing. The worst of the shedding will stop eventually.
