How do you know you have perfect recall with your dog?
And does anyone really have this? If a dog sees another dog and takes off after it, or a cat etc it's very hard to break it's focus from that and get it to come back to you. I've done long line training with my dogs before (long nylon leash) and got them to a very good standard...but off the leash there will be the odd occasion where it all falls into a heap.
So when people say you should only have your dog off leash when it is under perfect control - is that possible?
Sorry, its focus. Not "it's". Mum would kill me for that mistake 
i understand completely. no one can be 100% sure in all circumstances. but, if your dog is well trained in a variety of situations with a variety of distractions then you probably have a better trained dog than most people do. i test my dog's recall regularly but i wouldn't count on it when rabbits or squirrels are around. best you can do is assess the environment and keep your eyes wide open. call the dog back to you regularly and if you think something might be too tempting, call it back before it has a chance to react. nice question!

What is a Bolster Dog Bed?
What is a bolster dog bed? It is a bed that has one end, which is a bolster that is designed for extra support for the dog. This is how he/she can lean back securely. The bolster is usually a separated part from the bottom pillow and base of the bed. It is made out of a firm foam so it can support the dog's weight against it. A good bolster dog bed is one where both the bottom cushion (the pillow) and the bolster are firm enough to support a dog without losing its shape.
What type of dogs would benefit from this kind of a bed? Dogs that tend to lean when they sleep.
