Little red worms in pet water fountain.?
When going to clean out my cats' water dispenser (it's a fountain), I saw some sludge down there. I cleaned out the sludge, and found some little red worms in it. There were only about 20 to 30 I cleaned out, but I'd like to know this:
Are they harmful to my cats? Because I'd like to know ahead of time so I don't have to wait for any "symptoms" to come.
You have blood worms. They are the larvae of the Midge fly and are found also in clean filtered water.
They are a valuable source of food for various tropical fish (I feed mine bloodworms amongst other things).
Please clean out your water fountain far more regularly. SOme say it's OK to have them, I would rather not, thanks.
