What is the most effective product for cleaning smelly pet urine from carpet and wood floors?

My friends and I all have dogs we were wondering which product really does what it says it will do and which ones only mask the scent, which means our little dogs return to the area where "accidents" occur after cleaning. I am requesting helpful comments only. Thank you.

Nature's Miracle is a wonderful product and works very well in areas that have never been subjected to detergents in the past. Carpet almost always has been. I used to swear by it myself until I moved into a place that had cat urine odor that someone had tried to detergent out, and Nature's Miracle was rendered useless.

I use K.O.E. now. Many cleaners will attempt to clean the effected area and will apply a liberal dose of deodorizers to the area in hopes of making the problem go away. This is a "band-aid" solution at best. Simple cleaning will not remove the odor. Disinfectants and perfumes will not remove the odor.
