Soft Sided Dog
can a soft sided pool, the kind with the inflatable ring on top edge of it, be left up thru the winter?
I am in the Chicago area. This pool is 18' x 4'. It is the type where you inflate the top ring and then fill with water. No side supports.It would leave a huge mud pit for the dogs and kids if I took it down, not to mention my water bill at the beginning of each season. This is the first winter we had it, and I cannot find any winterizing info on this type of pool setup.
I wouldn't recommend unless you run your pump and water treatment process all winter as well.
If your climate is warm and controlled and you can use it over the winter and plan to "upkeep it" then by all means, leave it be.
An ignored pool like the above will rot and turn into a sludge pit if ignored for months on end. The bugs, animals, sludge, slime and bacteria would not only eat away the plastic but certainly destroy any possibility of re-use next season.
To drain without making a mudpit user your hose and a cheap 20.00 pump for lowes/home depot to pump the pool out away from the area so the spot will dry / recover quicker. Make sure to properly fold and store your pool as well!
