Canary help! Basic care!!! HELP!!?
hi, i want to get a pet bird and unfortunately i live a busy life style. i have a part time job and go to high school. I have researched Meany pet birds and ive found that all parrots need alot of attention (i would like to give but cant) and im not big on finch's. But then i saw canaries, and i read that they are tamable if acquired at a young age so they can be social and they dont mind being left alone. Couple questions: 1. ARE canaries always singing including at night? 2. Will one be happy on its own? 3. Do they need alot of attention? 4. If i tame one, will it be okay if i play with it when i can or will it NEED me? i know its alot but please help me.
Canaries are great birds!
If you don't have a lot of time, you may want to think about just getting a pair. If you get a single hand-tamed bird, you will need to spend valuable time daily with your bird. While two non-tamed birds may not be what your looking for, they are still beautiful and enjoyable to watch and listen to.
1. Are canaries always singing including at night? No, at night once you cover their cage with a towel or blanket they typically stop singing. Although, a happy Canary will sing all through the entire day. They have gorgeous songs that mimic things such as waterfalls, you may want to look up the songs of one to make sure you can handle their vocals.
Will one be happy on its own? If you have time to dedicate to the bird, yes! If not, I suggest getting a pair. Although typically in pairs they aren't very tame. Any hand-tamed bird requires attention to keep them that way.
Do they need alot of attention? If they are not in a pair, they will need daily interaction from you. Especially if they are hand-tamed.
If i tame one, will it be okay if i play with it when i can or will it NEED me? If tame, the bird will require daily interactions not only to be happy, but to remain as tame as when you first received the bird.
